How hypnosis and mind coaching works

Hypnotherapy is a combination of relaxation techniques, disassociation, and intense focus. It reaches the unconscious part of the mind — the storage space for deeply embedded negative thoughts and beliefs.

A common worry with hypnosis is lack of control. In fact, it’s the opposite.

With my help as a mind coach, you take control over the unconscious thoughts which are currently working against you.

So, how does that happen?

What happens during our hypnotherapy and mind coaching sessions?

Our first session begins with the reasons why you’re here. We’ll have a wide-ranging conversation about what you want to achieve and why, so far, you haven’t succeeded.

When you’re ready, we’ll start solving the problem.

To set the scene, I’ll ask you to imagine a sensory experience which involves visualisation, touch, smell, and taste.

Everyone’s experience of hypnosis is different, and this allows me to gauge your level of trance so that I can tailor the therapy appropriately.

How will hypnosis feel?

You’ll feel a sense of deep relaxation and, with my guidance, heightened awareness.

There are no distractions. You’re able to focus on one idea, to the exclusion of everything else.

Your body may feel heavier or lighter than normal — similar to the feeling associated with sleep, although you won’t actually fall asleep.

You can break out of the trance at any time.

Why does hypnotherapy work?

In everyday life, we rarely have access to our unconscious mind. Hypnotherapy opens the locked gate.

Your conscious mind is the rational one. You use it to make decisions and form opinions. The more suggestible unconscious mind lies under the surface, quietly shaping experiences, influencing emotions and beliefs.

The problem is, the unconscious mind can act against us. It’s invariably at the root of addictive behaviour, irrational fears, crippling anxiety, and guilt.

During hypnotherapy, the conscious mind is quietened. When new self-beliefs and coping mechanisms are suggested, they reach the deeply embedded unconscious sweet spot. You can more easily take them in and adopt them.

In short, provided you’re ready to engage, hypnotherapy is one of the most effective change methods available to you.
